Bittersweet Espresso Layer Cake with White Chocolate Frosting
A dessert worthy of a celebration all on its own, the contrast of light and dark flavors is positively irresistible. Bold espresso layer cake with bittersweet chocolate ganache filling, covered in light, fluffy white chocolate buttercream frosting.
Cherry Hot Chocolate Spoons
Chocolate-covered cherries, those quintessential Valentine’s Day bon bons, are now re-imagined as a voluptuous glass of hot chocolate waiting to happen.
Gingerbread Hot Chocolate
Thick enough to qualify as a dessert, my rendition gets an extra boost from bright gingerbread spices, plus the deep, earthy sweetness of molasses.
Chocolate Chickpea Spread
Obviously delicious, secretly nutritious! A crazy cross between hummus and Nutella, this chickpea-based chocolate spread is an easy way to sneak a bit of protein and fiber into a sweet schmear.
Protein Fudge
Rich, but not overwhelmingly so, crunchy cacao nibs punctuate the soft texture, much like chocolate chips strewn through unbaked cookie dough. A thin sheet of dark, slightly bitter chocolate caps off each small square with just the right extra dose of decadence, although it's strictly optional if you're more of a protein purist. Eaten straight out of the fridge, there are few tastier yet still healthy tidbits out there that can power me through a long day.
Calming CocoaNut Malt Shake
Malt shoppes only wish they had the true earthy goodness that maca brings to the table, playing off the subtle woodsy notes of true cocoa. Thick and rich with whole oats and fresh coconut, rather than sugary scoops of ice cream, you can drink it down to power up, rather than crash out from a sugar coma later.
Marshmallow Hot Cocoa Rolls
Tender, buttery yeast dough wraps itself around spirals of sweet hot cocoa in this divine baked bun. Sticky marshmallow glaze seals the deal with a warm, sweet kiss.
Chocolate Emergency Cookies
The easiest chocolate cookies ever might also be the very best. Soft and tender, crisp around the edges, basic pantry staples come together to create deep, dark chocolate flavor.
Ultra-Moist Amazing Chocolate Layer Cake
Creamy bittersweet chocolate frosting is the luscious glue that holds together this tower of three tender cake rounds together, and though no further decoration is needed, a light dusting of confectioner's sugar really seals the deal. Nothing short of a show-stopper, it may not be a surprising choice, but it's sure not your average cocoa birthday cake.
S'mores Frappe (Starbucks S'mores Crème Frappuccino Copycat)
Make one of Starbucks' best-selling seasonal frappuccinos right at home! This vegan version uses aquafaba marshmallow fluff instead of whipped cream for a lighter, more flavorful finish. A refreshing blended mocha base is topped off by this fluffy finish, along with homemade chocolate syrup and crushed graham crackers. It's all the best tastes of summer, without the campfire.
Cocoa Kisses
Adapted from the original recipe from The Joy of Cooking, this small batch of cocoa meringue cookies is made with aquafaba instead of egg whites. Tinted with just a hit of chocolate, they're crisp, light as a cloud, but gooey and soft on the inside.
Chocolate Pfeffernüisse Cookies
These soft chocolate cookies are spiced like gingerbread with an emphasis on anise and cardamom. They may just be your new favorite Christmas cookie!
Chocolate Spritz Cookies
The classic combo of chocolate and peppermint is an easy crowd pleaser, the crisp but still soft cocoa cookies yielding to a creamy, lightly minted filling, riddled with crunchy pieces of smashed candy canes.
Chocolate Quartet Cookies
I wanted to create a cookie that celebrated all types of cacao. Not just in chips or chunks, but in powdered format, and even sticky syrup too. The results came out exceptionally tender, chewy beyond my wildest dreams, and utterly, thoroughly, chocolatey.
Classic Chocolate Cupcakes
Made with basic pantry staples, I always have everything on hand to make a batch at a moment's notice. In 30 minutes or less, start to finish, you've got a party starter ready to celebrate. The results taste so much richer than their humble origins; moist, almost fudgy crumbs with a deep chocolate flavor shine beneath slightly crisped edges.
Black Magic Cookie Bars
Blackberry puree, spiked with a touch of lime and vanilla, cloaks my
supernatural sweets in fresh, seasonal berry flavor. Supported by a
dark, devious crust of chocolate cookies rather than the standard graham
crackers, the bars take on a high-contrast color scheme to better match
their title, not to mention add a bolder bite.
White Chocolate Mousse
While it feels as light as a cloud on the tongue, this white chocolate mousse is also unbelievably rich, luscious, and creamy. I would suggest serving it with a good bowlful of berries to cut it, or a small dollop on top of hot chocolate would be a delicious addition as well. Top a cupcake with it and you’ll have one intensely satisfying dessert, too.
Bread and Chocolate Slice
If you like bread and/or chocolate, together or separately, this is a recipe you should take for a spin. Crunchy croutons take the place of bland wafer cookies in this classic no-bake bar cookie. Accented with chocolate and hazelnuts, the whole mixture is bound with a dark, toasty caramel. Finally, a touch of salt and pepper sets this unique treat apart.
Brownie Crisps
For anyone who’s fought to get the corner piece from a pan of fudgy brownies or relished the distinctive crackled top, these crisps have your name written all over them. Deceptively light, it’s disturbingly easy to munch straight through half a batch without even pausing to take a breath.
Coffee Flour Brownies
If you have coffee flour and don't know what to do with it, this is the answer. Held together by the magic of aquafaba and crowned by a perfect crackled crust, these rich, fudgy brownies are pretty much the ideal cookie bars. The impulse to add a bit of coffee essence was too strong to deny, but you could just as happily omit the instant coffee powder if you’re not a natural coffee fanatic. Accenting with a pinch of cinnamon, or playing up the subtle citrus notes of the flour with a hint of orange zest, would be equally delightful.
Creamed Cheese Brownies with Salted Dark Chocolate Topping
No faux cream cheese to be found in these deep, rich, fudgy brownies. Cashews stand in for a cream cheese–like layer, which takes these brownies to, ‘OMG these are freaking good!’ ’Nuff said—go make them.
Fig-Mint Brownies
Brownies, thick, fudgy squares far more versatile than the classic little black dress, are easy to glam up for the occasion. Unintentionally adding a supposed aphrodisiac to the mix, a few dried black figs simply struck me as a perfect pairing to all cacao decadence, light and fruity with a bit of toothsome pull. Likewise, the inclusion of fresh mint seemed like the ideal way to brighten the whole treat, lest the density of these brownies overwhelm the palate.
Fudge-Mallow Cookies
Super chewy, chocolate, and packed full of gooey marshmallows, these cookies are perfect for any ocassion, and no special ocassion in particular. This crowd-pleasing combination will always be a hit.
Half Baked Bars
When you want a bite of cookie dough along with the rich density of dark chocolate brownies, these are the ultimate in decadence. Honestly, if you can’t make it past that fudgy base and just call it a day with the Best Vegan Brownies Ever, I won’t blame you one bit. When you want to pull out all the stops and really celebrate life, no matter the real occasion, this dessert is for you.
Korova Cookies
The only thing better than chocolate is chocolate cookies with big chocolate chunks and a pinch of salt. These are sure to win over new fans and friends with ease.
Mega Maca Brownies
Meet the tastiest, healthiest, raw brownie ever. High in protein, fiber, and flavor, these bars taste like a treat while providing a serious dose of quality nutrition to power through your day.

Resoundingly crunchy and full of toasted nuts, these coffee and cocoa-flavored bars are a real treat to enjoy.
Mochi Brownies
A decadent mashup of classic chocolate brownies with chewy mochi, these bars are incredibly satisfying to sink you teeth into.
Rocky Road Bars
Unlike an actual rocky road, these bars are easy to navigate. Loaded with marshmallows, chocolate, and nuts, everyone will enjoy this classic crowd-pleasing treat.
Frankenstorm Pie (AKA Banana Ganache Pie)
Bananas and chocolate, uncomplicated and unfussy, there would have been no recipe nor record if not for the rave reviews. Silky ganache is lightened by fruity accents and brightened with a light sprinkle of sea salt to finish.
Greek Silk Pie
Chocolate pie, ready in a flash, and healthy enough to justify one generous, large wedge per person.
Strawberry-Chocolate Mousse Pie
Folded in with ample amounts of melted bittersweet chocolate and fresh strawberry puree, this fluffy filling was right at home on top of a thin layer of fresh, sliced strawberries, all in an almond meal and cocoa crust.
Brooklyn Blackout Blizzard Cake
Sink your fork into a thick slice and close your eyes. This sensation, this euphoric, intoxicated, suddenly blissful feeling you’re experiencing? This isn’t death by chocolate, it’s LIFE by chocolate! The original Brooklyn Blackout Cake, iconic for its jet-black crumb coating and pudding-smothered layers, really does mean well, but doesn’t quite reach the frosty peaks that my ice queen here does. Firm yet supple layers stacked up with a no-churn chocolate custard beckon, reviving jaded chocolate lover with one bite. Kids and adults alike will clamor to help “clean up” the fallen crumbs left behind.
Chocolate Brioche
If you're craving bread that tastes like cake, this could be the loaf of your life. You get a ribbon of pure chocolate swirled through every tender cocoa-infused slice for double chocolate bliss.
Chocolate Cut-Out Cookies
Meet your new favorite cut out cookies! You'd never know they're gluten-free or vegan by their soft, toothsome texture nor rich cocoa flavor.
Berry Chocolate Muffins
Sweet chocolate and tart fresh berries join forces in these tender muffins. Call it breakfast, snack, or dessert; they always satisfy.
Flourless Chocolate Cake
Ready in an hour or less, this dark, dense, fudgy chocolate cake doesn't lack anything, except flour!
Hot Chocolate Doughnut Holes
Hidden inside of each tender chocolate donut hole is a gooey vegan marshmallow, inspired by a rich mug of hot cocoa.
Great Nana Blanche's Sour Cream Chocolate Cake (Veganized)
This tried-and-true, old-fashioned chocolate cake has been handed down through my family through generations. I simply veganized to to keep up with modern demands and ingredients.
Lucky Chocolate Cake
Boost your good fortune with a healthy chocolate cake! Composed of little more than black-eyed peas and chocolate, those who avoid gluten will also be able to partake, and the high protein content makes it a lesser evil than most of the sweet treats.
Molten Mocha Protein Cakes
Decadent dark chocolate cakes with a molten, gooey center are the ultimate indulgence. These happen to be secretly healthy with plant-based protein and fiber!
Chocolate Chocolate Chip Ice Cream
Ultra rich this a full-bodied, decadent frozen custard. Tiny shards of chocolate stracciatella flow through the smooth mahogany brown base, adding a quiet crunch to each creamy bite.
Chocolate Sorbetto
This is chocolate sorbet with an Italian accent; intense, decadent, and complex in rich flavor.
Truffles²
Intense is just about the only way to describe these confections that are simple to make, yet very complex in flavor. Heady black truffle oil enriches dark chocolate for a wild interplay between bitter and sweet, savory and salty.
Quadruple Chocolate Honeycomb
Crisp foamy craters redolent of chocolate define this newest incarnation for classic honeycomb candy, possessing almost as many forms of cacao as its storied names. There’s cocoa and dark chocolate of course, and cacao nibs for extra crunch, but the real secret ingredient here is chocolate extract.
Sugar-Free Citrus Spice Truffles
These simple chocolate truffles, infused with bright orange zest and warm autumnal spices, are completely sugar-free, because everyone deserves a sweet treat.
Chocolate and Raspberry Mousse
Rich avocados create the buttery base for a bitter dark chocolate mousse. On top, fresh berries contribute a jammy, tart, and tangy flavor, balancing out the sweetness with elegance. The whipped cream seals the deal, completing the combo with a cloud of velvety coconut foam.
Salted Caramel Whiskey Pecan Brownies
There's always room for another brownie recipe, especially when you're talking about one infused with salted caramel whiskey and pecans. Fudgy and rich, simple to make and yet complex in flavor, this one is worthy of adding to your repertoire.
Soy Milk Chocolate
Make your own creamy, sweet milk chocolate, without any dairy! These chocolate bars are perfect for snacking, baking, and melting.
Raw Chocolate Bars
Make your own chocolate bars from scratch using only whole, raw foods ingredients, in mere minutes!
Happy Valentine’s Day ❤️! Every chocolate recipe is making our mouths water. Might have to start off with those Emergency chocolate cookies as now we are having an emergency chocolate craving.
Happy Valentine’s Day to you too! I hope it’s been absolutely lovely, and full of only the sweetest things! 💌
I simply do not believe this collection and your huge variety of chocolate recipes! OK – I just love to eat the very dark chocolate pieces both for health requirements and, I must admit. acquired taste BUT the one I really want to make and taste and share with others is the ‘chocolate chickpea spread’ which sounds rather interesting and ‘me’. Just as long as you do not compare it with the wretched Nutella which, with its 70% fat/sugar and vanILLIN content and damage it is doing in global warming, should have been off the shelves a long time ago!
I’m so grateful for your support, and touched to be included in your emails! Fun fact: That chickpea hummus is the single most popular recipe on my blog, believe it or not. I was shocked to see the stats when putting together this roundup. I’d call that a ringing endorsement!
Hannah – thank you! I just cannot believe that totally listening to my ‘feeling-world’ I managed to ‘hit’ upon your most popular recipe :) !!! Oh – my emails come about because I am SO interested in food both for ‘yum’ and for ‘health’ but am not in the position to create worthwhile content myself at the moment :) !!!
Oh my goodness… I think I have died and gone to chocoholic heaven Hannah.. So many wonderful recipes to choose from..
