Since I have always been and am mostly a meat-eater who enjoys vegetarian fare as a healthy alternative some days of the week, I cannot quite understand the desire of people who truly are vegetarians for any number of reasons, to ‘pretend’ they are eating meat?! Why use words like ‘beef’, ‘pepperoni’ and duck’ when that is not what is being served – if one loves vegetarian fare why not call such by the correct names . . . just wondering with a big smile :) !!!

I hear what you’re saying, and I hate the silly nonsensical names too. However, I’ve been vegan for long enough to also understand the need to call it something else, as reassurance, that this is definitely not animal-based meat. I tend to prefer “plant-based meat” at this point, since meat isn’t only made of flesh. It just needs a little further clarification. :)
